Just thought I would pass along my discoveries on my 89-240. Couldn't get any spark out of the coil yesterday, stranded my wife twice. Fortunately they were close to home.

Symptoms where intermittant loss of ignition spark. Right from the coil. Ended up being the 25amp fuse on above the driver side tire. Unfortunately, the fuse holder had broken from the mounting arm, so it took me a few minutes to find the actual fuse. Originally thought this car didn't have one. Have replaced the rpm sensor last august, and took the coil and power stage off of my 88-740 for substitution, still no spark.

Maybe someone here can confirm my observations. When I querried the computer, I got no response at all. Originally connecting the lead to either port 2 or 6 of the connector, all I got was a dim constant light from the ECU led. Pressing the button/switch, fully illuminated the diode, but no response. Is this a symptom of the ECU not getting power? Is it consistently that way?

Regardless, now I get proper 1-1-1 reponse from port 2 or 6 and the car starts perfectly. Need to get a new fuse holder that will mount to the bar...recommendations on that would be nice.
