nivomat question on 780 700

I have a 1989 volvo bertone...I had a sagging problem on my left side rear twice in the past year..then as if the nivomats were self-healing they repaired themselves..and they seem fine. In the meantime I have bought the new nivomats.
Are the hard to change myself. Can the trailing arms move away from me once I take it off the car. Will the car ride any better if I put the new shocks on now..thanks..Jeffry
