1985 740, trying to install a model 6141 radio..Please help 700

Ok, here's the scoop, I picked this bute up early this past summer, the FM only worked on the radio for two days, and the AM just gave out about three weeks ago. I bought a model 6141 radio to replace the other with. I have a few questions, hopefully someone can help me out.
There are 2 wiring harness', an antenna wire, and a power antenna (which I don't need because I don't have one). The bigger wiring harness has a constant 12V (red), a ground (black), an illumination (grey) and then one blue and one green wire (I'm guessing that these go to the amp, because there aren't any speaker wires coming out of the back of this radio)-this harness is connected. Then a two wire harness has an orange wire that I guess is a switched 12V, and a ground (black)-this is not connected because I cannot find the other end to plug the harness into, it is as though the other radio that I pulled out was not plugged in here either. Now, if I turn on the radio I can seek stations and it will stop on the proper stations for my area, so the antenna is working; all of this but I have no sound. I haven't tested the amp (with a voltmeter) just yet to see if there is anything coming out of the amp going to the speakers (which could tell me if my problem is the amp), but I was in the hopes that someone here could point me in a direction that I hadn't previously thought. Any help would be much appreciated mates.
