How to adjust cable driven clutch? 700 1987

I have an '87 740 GLE in which the clutch doesn't release unless your foot is practically mashed into the floor. I was told that it probably needs adjustment, and if that doesn't help the cable is probably stretched. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the cable?
