starter woes 200 1991

I replaced the starter solenoid yesterday and when I tried to starter her up it sounded like the starter got power for a second then, blip, everything went dead. I had power before, just no juice to the starter. This leads me to believe that I put a connection on incorrectly and blew something. Anyone have any idea what would have blew? My guess is the main fuse in the engine compartment by the battery, but I really haven't a clue. Thanks.
