wax on black plastic moldings S90-V90

I drive a 2001 V70 wagon....like an idiot I accidently left some wax on the black plastic molding strips...it's rather embedded into it now and dried...how would one get this stuff off without using steel wool or fine sand paper?...thanks...ohdaddee
