Exhaust Manifold Gasket

I'm getting ready to replace the exhuast manifold gasket on my '83 Turbo and am told I will be lucky not to break some studs. I often use a torch on older rusted stuff, heat up the nut or bolt bright red, let cool and they come right off. I know that these bolts may be seized do the the heat cylces they see, a different problem than rust. Will the torch method be of any help in this case?

Thanks, Grant
