engine light comes on while going 55mph 200 1993

A quick question. I was driving 55mph and my cars engine light would come on for a second and you could feel the car slow down. I think the engine is cutting off real quick. It would last 1 to 3 seconds in length for the three times it would do it. Could this be a coil? I have no clue. I checked all my plug wires including coil and they are on tight. Car is a 93 240 with 129k on it. Thanks for you help.
