engine light comes on at 55mph then goes off 200

I have a 93 240 with 129k on it and last night while driving 55mph the engine light would come on for around a second or two and the car would slow down. I think the engine is cutting off. When the engine light would go away it would run as normal. My car did this three times and they all lasted about 2-3 seconds in length. What is going on? I checked my plug and coil wires to make sure they were on tight. Thanks for you help
