164 Manual Transmission 140-160

Just purchased a 1974 164e(from New London CT "rust free)and want to swap the auto tranny. I currently have a 75 164e which I had an accident with and this one has the 4 speed manual tranny with O/D. I Want to put the manual on the 74. I was wondering if this is a straight swap or do I have to find me another transmission from a 74. My main concern is the center support for the transmission and the shaft center/bearing. I was looking at it last nite and it looks a little different from the 75. BTW, there was an earlier post on the IPD sway bars from the 1975 to the 1974 and earlier. The rear sway bar does not fit. The front one does fit. The rear end of the 75 model is shorter therefore the sway bar is short. I have a set on my 75 model. I noticed that if the car is lowered, the sway bar has very little effect.

thanks,

Luis

75 164e (rear wheel fell off and destroyed the rear panel)
74 164 (rust free and ready to be an almost 75)
71 1800e (sleeping until spring)
