Has anyone out there tried punching out or boring out or drilling out a hole in there catalytic converter?
I recently bought a 1988 740 Turbo Intercooler, and I think after years of neglect by the PO, the Turbo has leaked enough oil through the system that not only is my throttle body clogged and in need or cleaning, but so is my catalytic converter. So I was thinking about boring out a hole through it with a long drill bit. Now I know this used to be a good thing to do to 1970ish catalytic converter equipped cars, but the later cars, espeacially the ones currently on the market, this will screw them up big time - not to mention it is illegal for cars being driven "on the road" but we are of course talking about "off the road useage".
Anyways, what's your thoughts and/or experience?
