Can the clock freeze? 200

About a week ago the temp dropped really low at night and when I went out the following morning to go to work, I started the car up, but noticed that the clock read 3:10 when it was really 7:50. I haven't touched the clock and it always kept good time (the large ugly one in the instrument cluster). My theory was that it froze that night, but maybe the battery is starting to go... Any ideas?
