Hello I just found this site last night, and I love the info here. Friday we purchased our first Volvo, it is a 240 DL with 132,000. My parents have a 1986 240 DLwith 200,000+ miles so we knew it has alot more in her. There are a few things that I wanted to ask about.
1. The car doesn't produce alot of heat from the heater. So we tried warming it up since it has been very cold here. And then notice there wasn't any differance.
2. The car somtimes shift from park, to drive, or reverse hard. Also when driving between 35 to 40mph the engine revs kind of loud, once it is past 40mph or so it quiets back down. I believe it also does this between 60 to 65mph. Could this be the transmission, or the fluid needing changing?
3. Saturday and this morning the car didn't start. waited a hour or so and then tried and it did. We don't believe we had flooded it. We took it to Autozone and the battery tested at 13.7 insted of 14. Could that be the problem, even though it is so small of a differance? The guy at Autozone didn't think so. It was a Volvo battery. And the altenator test fine as well.
Also, this the front passenger window switch will not roll the window down, but will go up. But from the drivers side it goes both ways. I have read peoples post, and your suggestion to simular problems. I am just wondering if they could be connected. Thank you in advance.
