How does the stalk turn the front w/washer on? 900

My first Volvo! But no operators manual, and the Volvo online manual isn't clear to me. What position of the wiper control stalk is supposed to make the front w/washers squirt? On a lovely '94 940 wagon, non-turbo, 113k, that is!
