The AC in the 1985 244GL went kapowie this fall. I did the old belt around trick and it has worked fine so far. But winter can't last forever! I sweat like a Kennedy at confession so I need my AC.
So with a siezed compressor I know for sure I need to replace that part and the AC clutch and maybe some bushings. What else do I REALLY need to replace to ensure I can get 5-10 years out of the next batch of AC parts. I want to do this right. I aslo plan to do the conversion to R-134, buy all the parts and do the charging myself. Any tips? I have the Bentley and the Hanyes.
What about the guy on Ebay selling AC compressors - Is that a good deal or is there a better source of new or rebuilt AC parts? Anyone buy one from him? Satisfied with the quality?
Thanks Once Again Bricksters -
P.S. - Could someone within 300 miles of Kansas City please make me a deal on a decent 245 - I mean damn. They are either ran to death (300,000+), priced for yuppies ($4800 for an 92 with 270,000) or "it's almost ready...give me a few weeks" in this area. You guys on both the coasts don't know how lucky you are to have a glut of used 240s.
