Rotting Passenger Door-Unscientific Poll 200 1987

Greetings,Bricksters, from Cleveland: OK, so I'll admit that as the driver and far and away only occupant of my '87 daily driver (196K and counting) I have little need to even bother with the passenger side front door. I was therefore blown away when I noticed that, not only was there quite a bit of rot on the lower trailing edge of the door bottom, but the UPPER part of the door, the trailing edge window frame (where it's welded to the door skin) was likewise rotten ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR! The passenger who happened to be sitting there would notice, right above the door lock button, the beginnings of the window frame rusting through! All of the other doors are solid, top and bottom. Now, I've begun to notice on almost all other cars of that vintage, that the passenger side front door is just as likely to be rotting out as not, while the other doors are (outwardly, at least) OK. I've even looked at cars on the lots and noticed that the pass'ger door is usually cheezy (or repaired) while the others are pretty sound. Anyone else notice this on their cars or others? Is this a problem that has been acknowleged by the factory? How did you fix yours? Or am I just full of beans (wouldn't be the first time)? Thanks, as always....

Brad
