What does an Actron Code Scanner do that can't be done with the AB diag unit? 900

I've noticed several Actron brand code scanners available for my Volvo (1993 960) and am wondering what they do that can't be done via the AB diagnostic unit built in to my Volvo.

Anyone have one of these and can tell me what benefit there is to owning/using one?
