I HAVE AN '83DL WAGON AND THE MAIN FUEL PUMP RECENLY WENT OUT ON IT. I SAVED SOME MONEY AND THREW DOWN FOR A USED/REFURBISHED ONE THAT SHOULD DO THE TRICK. HOWEVER WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE OUT THE OLD ONE (WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN CHANGED WITH 300,000 MILES ON IT), THE STUPID HEAD NUTS BY THE POWER SOURCE WIRES WONT CRACK. I HAVE TRIED EVERY THING AND CANT SEEM TO GET THE NUTS APART. AM I DOING THIS RIGHT? I AM TAKING TWO 17MM WRENCHS AND CROSS THREADING THEM TO LOOSEN THE NUT CLOSEST TO THE BODY OF THE PUMP (THIS IS THE SAME WAY I HAVE ALWAYS CRACK FUEL LINES). IT SEEMS THAT I AM LOOSENING IT BUT THERE IS NO WAY I CAN GET IT OFF COMPLETLY. I HAVE SEEN THREE DROPS OF GAS LEAK OUT, SO I THINK I AM ON THE RIGHT TRACK... BUT IT IS SIMPLY NOT WORKING. DO I NEED TO TAKE THE FUEL FILTER OFF TOO? I JUST WANT THIS TO WORK AND GET IT OUT OF MY HAIR. ALL HELP IN THIS MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
