Headlight Assembly Replacement 200 1986

OK, call me an idiot but I've wasted about five hours this weekend trying to remove my old broken L/H headlight assembly. I've read and re-read my Haynes Manual and I'm no closer to ending this job than when I started. Can any of you PLEASE give me a detailed description of how to do this job? Also, what is the best way to remove the lens from the assembly on the R/H side? I got a new one to replace a cracked one.
