Unknown Volvo Part 3514700 - black box 200

I've found something under the dash of my volvo and I don't know what it is.

Driver's side around steering column, black plastic box about 4"w x 3"h x 6"l. Has a fifteen-pin male connector on one end with seven pins on the top row and eight on the bottom. Was partially attached to the female connecting harness under the dash.

Reattached it all the way but the car ran no differently. Removed and noticed same.

What do I have here? I can't find this part number anywhere on the internet....
