960 handbrake shoes fall apart on automatics 900

On my '95 960 Estate I encountered a rare thing.
Today I pulled backwards from my driveway and tried to take off, all of the sudden a terrible mechanically sound appeard from the right rear wheel.
I called my dealer and they took the car in.
Since it's a automatic (AW71) the handbrake is'nt used often and this is waht caused the problem.
The brakeshoes (the handbrake still uses brakeshoes...) had seperated from the anchorage....and after checking this was also happening here.
The baseplate and disc were severally dammaged and needed replacement !!!
So IMPORTANT MESSAGE, have your's checked every 15000 miles and renew before it'stoo latye and occasionally pull the handbrake even if your car is fitted with an automatic
