Changing Transmission Fluid 200

I read on a website about changing the automatic transmission fluid by disconnecting the transmission hose from the radiator, then turning on the engine. I'm wondering if this technique removes more of the old transmission fluid and flushes it better than the traditional manner of opening the drain plug at the bottom of the transmission fluid pan.
