Using preheat hose inlet as a cold air intake 200

Since my preheat hose is long gone, it got me thinking about using that inlet as an additional cold air intake. I've read through the archives and gotten some ideas.

Anyone one have any experiences or comments to relate?? What about removing the thermostat in the flap and running a hose to somewhere in the front? What about keeping the rain etc. out?

Appreciate any input!

Jim
