For those who haven't been following --

In a fit of madness I've swapped out some Z-Therapy SU HS6 carbs
for the Zenith Strombergs that came with the car. I did this
mostly because the car never ran quite right with the HS6s and the
car actually ran pretty well with the ZS carbs (I replaced them
originally to solve a mis-diagnosed problem with the idle).

At first the car would hardly idle when cold and ran dead lean
most of the time and would stall, backfire, and bog terribly
in the idle -> on throttle transition.

I put straight 60 weight oil into the dashpots and now it
doesn't bog at all when I hit the gas from idle.

The next problem to solve is the pinging at 2000-3000 at 3/4ths
throttle under load. I think I need a stiffer spring to get
the mixture richer for open throttle low RPM settings.

Does anyone know specifics of the correct spring? According
to the Haynes Weber Carburetor manual, the 164 is suppose to
have "blue" springs but I'm not sure how strong these are
suppose to be and I'm also not sure of things like how long
they are or how many coils they have or the size of the metal
constituting the spring. The springs I've got are no longer
colored and of the 4 carbs I've got I've got 3 different springs
so I used the only two that matched which may not give me what
I need...
