So, last May I took my 87 240 to Brake Masters or Ass Masters as I call them, got new front brake pads and on their advice got new drive belts. So first I noticed they forgot to reattach the hose connecting the airbox to the amm. Then the alternator flew into the fan, overheating the car very quickly. Both of these things happened within two weeks. Then last fall the steering wheel began to shimmy really badly when I braked so I decided to replace the pads and rotors myself. Ass Masters didn't use any brake shims, two of the pads they had used had cracked, and they didn't replace one of the cotter pins. SO, I had all that fixed and though I was in the clear until just today I noticed the power steering going on and off, and when it came off I heard a horrible screech sound. So I popped the hood and pushed the power steering belt and it deflected about an inch and a half. The power steering coming on and off was really annoying, as was the screeching so I just cut the belt. The car is a little harder to steer, *cough bullsht *cough bullsht, but not that bad. SO my question is, is it bad to drive a car with power steering while the pulley isn't hooked up?
Thanks Nick
