fuel pump 700

Hello, about one month ago, or 1500 miles, my fuel pump was whining, the car was sputtering, and i replaced the interior fuel pump. Everything worked fine. Today, the same symptoms started up. Could I have a faulty pump or should I have replaced the main pump as well to begin with. thanks...KEVLAR
