First, thanks to everyone who replied to my previous ECU message (http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=584617).
After several days of research, it seems there is more than 50% chance to fix an older ECU by replacing the EPROM chip. The chip may still be good but the data (programming) on it is guaranteed for 10 years only. It can be re-programmed, but is usually replaced as new chips cost about $2-3 each.
I have a friend that has the tools to program these chips, so all I need is the actual computer file with the data. I've searched the Net and found lots of files for similar ECUs, but none for 561s. If someone has that file, please email it to me, or post a link to it.
If anyone has a dead 561 ECU, especially one that will not start the car (fuel pump relay circuit burnt), I would be very grateful if you could pull the EPROM chip from it and mail it to me, so I can read the programming file. If I'm successful in making new EPROMs, I will mail you back several new to keep as spares. If someone would help me, please drop me an email and I will send you info (from the web) on how to pull the EPROM out without damaging it.
