Volvo 240 turbo Gas mileage. 200 1984

I am interested in getting a Volvo 240 turbo. I once owned a volvo.(1983 244 turbo) I am interested in getting another Volvo 240 turbo. Perhaps with a intercooler this time. However I was wondering if anyone had better gas mileage than my 15-17MPG? Is there anyway to improve A/C performance? I definitely want another 240 series volvo. I am also intereseted in the 260 volvos as well. I have heard that they are a little bit smoother than the turbos. Any advice would be helpful.
