door panel exchange program 900 1995

I took advantage of the Volvo door panel exchange program (fronts $209 pair from Houston Volvo)and received them today. They don't come with the insert that holds the window controls, and the ones on the original panel are heat applied to the panel making removal almost impossible. The dealer couldn't explain how to handle this. Has anyone been able to salvage the old ones and install them on the new panels? thanks
