Just read Haroon's post and thread on blower motor replacement. Remembered that there was/is a guy in Canada who rebuilt these motors using ball bearings instead of the short-lived (only 15 years!) bushings. He charged around $170 for such a lifetime motor. Have you ever done this?

The motor on my 1986 has been making ominous noises on spin-down for over a year, and I am considering a ball-bearing rehab when the thing finally locks up.

Your ideas will be most welcome.
