This is not a new problem. Been there since I bought the car and for the most part she runs great.
But, the hissing/clicking noise from the vents, most notable under load or at 70+ mph, has always seemed more than "normal". Though since I have never been in a new/perfect 240, I have no idea what "normal" is. The clicking component of the "hiss" does not seemed directly correlated to RPM, rather the volume of it all correlates to load/speed. In town, hardly noticable sometimes.
I have tried to figure out what it is. Maybe valves, a tiny hole in my exhaust somewhere (never looked, just pondering), who knows.
So my question? Is this a "normal" 240 sound? If so, what is it? Why does it seem to "trasmit" through the vents? Was is less noticable in a "new" 240?
Thanks all. I want to stop thinking about it and I hate always cranking the radio! :)
