My 86 245 started sounding like it has a jet engine???????? 200 1983

While driving home tonite on the expressway I noticed a whining or whirring sound coming from maybe the drivetrain.........Slowed to stop and it stopped ......I put the Auto transmission in park and revved the engine so its not coming from there.........Put it in drive and the whirring jet engine sound increases...........I think its the transmission,,,,,fluid level OK........Or maybe a rear wheel bearing .......I will check the diff level tommoroww....................Anyone had this experience.........Thanks in advance.........Bob
