Relay looks new. Cleaned contacts. Main pump straining. Have been checking in tank pump but have following questions:
1. Is there an easy way to raise the cargo floor cover completely to get good access to in tank pump from above. Shop says they remove tank to access pump and want $400 to R&R unit. $750 if main pump also replaced. Seems steep to me.
When I try to raise cover the first hinged section folds over completely but the second hinges section can only be wedged open about 45 degrees. Is it meant to open completely. What am I missing. I can remove access cover but working on connections difficult because of flooring which I cannot easily remove.
2. When I measure voltage between the two pins on the white plastic connector taking power to the in tank pump I only get 0.1 volts DC. Should I be measuring voltage between one of the pins and ground (ie does each pin carry 12V and is the pump grounded for the circuit completion)?
So does tank need to be removed to change out in tank pump? Should I measure 12V between pins on connector going to pump or between pins and ground? Can I blow out pump without removing (this seems to have started when I ran tank very low)?
Sorry this is so long but what seems straightforward when I read procedure is getting complicated.
