ABS light 1990

Hello, my wifes 90 740-wagon the ABS light comes on at start up, sometimes it stays on, other times it doesn't. The times that it stays on, it will stay on while driving until you stop. Then when you restart it won't come on....It's evidently not a fuse, any suggestions???
