Fuel Gauge dies, trip and perm odometer stop, speedo ok - engine temp related 700 1989

Okay,
I've been watching this problem "grow" over the past year. Posted something about this last summer and was told to live with it, but now the odometers are ceasing to work intermittently. I've got an '89 765T wagon with 155,000 miles. It's a baby.

Here's the situation:
1) Fuel gauge comes up fine on first of the morning "cold" start. Stays working until the engine comes up to temp. BUT, the temp gauge does a dance routine while the engine gets warmer before reaching operating temp. once operating temp is reached, temp gauge stays pretty steady, but fuel gauge just goes dead. Leaving car while in work does not guarantee fuel gauge will work when I get out in the afternoon. Next morning, gauge is working again.

2) Now, the new twist to this is since the cold snaps in the PA area in November, 2002. The odometers have stopped turning intermittently but the speedometer is working fine.

3) Early 2002 the water pump was dying and I almost ran out of water. I believe the temp sensor took a hit which is what's causing the erratic behavior during the rise to operating temp.

4) I also believe there is a voltage issue in the dash system. I glanced at the schematics and noticed the fuel and temp gauge are on the same circuit. Sometimes banging on the top of the dash will cause the fuel gauge to come back to life but a bump in the road will eventually kill it. So, I'm still not sure if the engine temp is really related to this issue or if it's in combination.

Please help me with the following since the books don't talk about the odometers (trip and permanent).
A) I believe the odometer problem is a corroded wire. Where are these wires that get the odometer information?

B) Is it hard to replace the temp sensor? The books say you can change it if your quick you'll lose minimal coolant in the process. Any tips on this one?

C) Is the dash a real pain to get apart to fix a loose wire for the fuel/temp gauge? I have SRS but the module has been dead since I took ownership of the car. The wiring harness for the driver seat became warn and the wires were shorting out and killed the electronic module for SRS under the driver's seat. Tried a replacement before we realized the harnesss was bad and nailed that one too. So, I've been living without it for now.

Thanks.
