something not right with this cam 140-160

It looks like a home made job. It has 'file' marks across the face, and a 3/8" hole drilled and tapped slightly offset in the 1" centre section; which appears to be the end of the camshaft. Outside that is 1/8" thick spacer then a 1-3/4" wide metal section before it gets to the fibre part of the gear. I don't have a digital camera so can't post a picture, sorry. I might just try pulling it off with the 'three pronged puller thingy' and see what happens, what have I got to lose. It may be an aftermarket cam that was made to fit. This cam is in the original motor that came with the car and would rev out to 6000rpm with a single carb, it went well for a single carb motor, we took it out because it got too smoky. Our car is a '72 142S but had a '74 motor, beats me why it had a single carb though. I'll keep you posted on what I find. I need to know where the I.D number is stamped on the cam? Thanx for all the suggestions. Matt
