What does a white spark pug tip mean and what can I do to fix it.

Hi I have a 1985 245 turbo that I replaced the spark plugs 6 months ago. I checked them today because I was wondering if my engine was knocking. When I pulled them out the tips were white. I know this isn't normal, but what does this mean and how can I fix it. thanks ahead of time.
