fuel pump conversion? 140-160

My fuel pump has been touchy as of late and I was wondering if there is any conversion, either to an older mechanical pump or perhaps just something not volvo all together. The reason I am wanting to change the pump is because so far my efforts on finding a fuel pump for a 73 145 havent been going to well. And the places I have found them want 200-300 for a pump. Any insight would be helpful.
