I just got a sample of some replacement piston rings for my D24T diesel and Im still puzzled over the markings on the wrapper, "Made In Mexico" Does anyone know if these are any good? The motor is German, pistons are marked Bohn and the crank audi/vw but to rebuild with parts made in mexico?
They seem to be alright, dimensions are on the line but how will these wear when I go after the redline? Anyone have any experience with these or should I dig further for some german made rings? My last high-speed run at 110 MPH for 5 miles took the temper out of my stock rings and now the car is hard starting thanks to the lost compression, boost was at a measured 16 PSIg and water went to 225F but we did catch the SOB.
I have been planning to rebuild for some time now but it looks like sooner than later.
Back to scratching my head.
