Trans flush, anyone ever done it? 200

I have an 84 DL auto with almost 200k on it. I've had the car for about the last 15k. It was abused severly before I bought it. I had to put a new head on it right away because it was cracked due to severe overheating by the previous owner. Anyway, the transmission has some problems too. I've been thinking about fushing it to get all the old fluid out. I read IPD's instructions online for their flush kit (a hose with the correct fitting on it). They say to hook the hose to the top fitting in the trans cooler and run it into a bucket. Then you start the car to pump out a quart or two of the old fluid, shut off the car, and add the same amount of new fluid until you've put in about 8 quarts or so. They say to fill it thru the dip stick port. I was wondering why you couldn't just hook a second hose to the trans line and fill it as you go. Is there enough flow to suck the new fluid out of a container?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
