Lesson from brakes 200

Recently purchased an '87 DL wagon. It is baby blue with the blue vinyl interior. Even has the fold out seat in the back. Was doing the front brakes on Monday, (they squeaked like a mad man) and drove out the drift pins like always on my ATE's. Unfortunately I discovered that they were Girling, and Girling have a little cotter pin instead of the pressure fit collars of the ATE's. I felt silly, had sheared off cotter pins inside pin. Got it fixed up, but just one of those things that reminded me that no matter how sure we are about the job, we must remember to survey the situation completely. I couldn't get those pins out and went, hmmmhh, need to hit harder. I'm glad I didn't break anything.
