What engine do I really have? 200 1982

In a 1982 245, the plate on the right side of the engine compartment (like the one described in http://www.volvoworld.com/VIN/plates81.htm ) indicates that it is a California car.

The emissions label on the other side of the engine compartment is mostly faded / worn away, but it lists the ignition timing at 12 +/- 2 (actual timing was 11 as found by the Smog Check, which also noted the idle speed as being close to 750 rpm). However, the owner's manual lists the following:

B21F: 8 +/- 2 at 750 rpm
B21F California: 8 +/- 2 at 900 rpm
B21F MPG: 12 +/- 2 at 750 rpm

Also the ignition timing and idle speed listings in the owner's manual do not mention anything about the LH-Jet version, nor does it list anything about a MPG California version.

The VIN's digit 6 and 7 are 48, which indicate B21F LH-Jet according to http://www.volvoworld.com/VIN/vin81-96.htm (49 would be B21F K-Jet).

So it looks like it should be a B21F MPG. But was there a B21F MPG California version? What is the difference between the MPG and non-MPG version (there does not seem to be any other indication in the manual what the difference is). The engine itself has a white distributor.
