Many thanks to all that posted advise for this problem! After some additional research on brickboard for solutions to this perplexing issue, one repair technique stood out as a solution to many different problems: RE-SOLDER EACH JOINT OF THE SYSTEM/FP RELAY. I figured, at least it won't set me back any money. That was six days ago now and the problem hasn't re-occurred. Cool, huh?
