brake lights and shift lock problem 200

1991 240 station wagon. My brake lights do not work, and my shift lock does not disengage after stepping on brake. Fuse is replaced and in good shape. Bulbs on both sides appear fine. Any suggestions? (Note: recently, left rear brake light has been 'on and off' - usually off on cold & rainy days). Thanks.
