740 wagon rear seat won't fold down, how to fix? 700

Hi,

1 of the 2 upper seatbacks in my 740 has refused to move for about 2 years. Apparently the latching release mechanism inside the seat is hosed. I would take the seat out and disassemble it, except it appears to me that I can't remove the seat for repair unless I can fold it down, and I can't fold it down yada-yada-yada.

Anybody else had an issue with this? Any shortcuts or fixes I'm overlooking?
