Is it worthwhile to install a flame trap housing on a turbo? 200 1985

I just took the intake manifold off for the umpteenth time (I highly recommend that if you remove that vaccum fitting on the head you ensure it's pointed towards the front before you install the head...) and I noticed that the sedan merely has a hose from the oil separator across the valve cover.. and the wagon has what I assume is a flame trap housing. Question: am I risking anything by just running a hose or should I go out and snag a housing from another turbo and install that?
