Hi,
I ordered a CD player from Crutchfield for my 92 740. The old stereo was an AM/FM/Cassette.
The harness I recieved has 2 rectagular connectors. I soldered this harness to the one that came with the stereo. It's ready to go in.
When I removed the old radio, I found it was connected to the car via 1 rectangular block (which corresponds to one of the 2 blocks on the Crutchfield harness) and a round DIN connector (plus the antenna lead, of course). The Crutchfield instructions indicate that the second block on thier harness attaches to the preamp somewhere underneath the steering column.
My question is this: if I trace the DIN cable back, will I find it is attached to a corresponding rectangular block where I'm supposed to? Or do I need a different adaptor harness than the one I was supplied? I would like to know BEFORE I tear the lower dash apart, not after.
thanks in advance.
