Auto trans late shift to 3rd gear or when let up on gas 900 1991

My 940 200,000 mile auto transmission does not shift into third gear until high rpm's (around 60 mph). Will shift if let up on accelerator. If hold accelerator at say 50 mph, won't shift until let up or get up to higher speed.

I know it's long overdue for trany filter (one of those things I forgot about - until trany acted up). Is there anything else I should check before commiting it to the mechanic.
