Lately i've been getting 15-16 mpg, on normal driving! I could have understood it if i was going flat out all the time but i'm not. What is strange is that the plugs read fine. I suspect the carb from being worn. I also have problems with hunting at idle and low speed, could this be caused by an over rich mixture at low speed? Also i have to give it a lot of pedal before the engine reacts. i have changed the rubber around the damper coil, altough it was not broken. I have also adjusted timing to 14 deg advance. More advance gives better fuel economy right? Engine is B19A and although i only have 4 gears so highway needs a lot of revs i wouldn't expect this kind of bad mpg even with a heavy foot at all times from such a small engine. I hav checked for vacum leakse and replaced all gaskets and hoses. It is winter time and cold here so i have to use the choke for the first 5 min of driving. Will a worn out carb cause very high fuel consumption, or just rough running? I would like to get down to around 24 mpg, is that possible?
