I am getting ready to replace the exhaust header on my 1989 240 wagon. It is breaking up where it meets the catalytic converter. It looks like it is not a fun job - it also appears that the downpipe costs around $250, which was a bit of a shock!
I had two questions. Should I replace the cat at the same time - the car has 135,000 miles on it, so if it makes the job a lot easier (which I suspect it might) it might be a good piece of preventive maintenance? Does anybody have any good tips for making the job easier?
Thanks
